xMarco Lealx The more I listen to Brave Days, the more I'm reminded of a great pop punk band "We Live Like Thieves". Sadly that band has disbanded and was originally from Abilene, TX which is about 2 and half/ 3 hours from Dallas. Hmmmm, I wonder...... Great easycore music here. Highly recommend. FFO: We Live Like Thieves, Worthwhile (old) Favorite track: Cloudy Eyes.

We’re dancing in the dark, drinking behind the walls we built, covering nakedness, ignoring love to cling to guilt. We’re meant for more than what we have settled for. We’re meant for more than sitting at our own closed doors. Realizing potential. Understanding grace. Being okay with the dirt still on my face. We’re orphans without anything but our names.

Cloudy Eyes 03:35
For once in my life I'm at a loss for words when it comes to what I think you deserve. You'll drink enough to kill yourself in time. Between this habit you have, and holding your breath for me to come around and wish you the best. I'll bury the hatchet you left in my back. You can have what you stole, it wasn't worth that. All those nights that you refused to let me drive you home. Sober enough to tell me you loved me and that you hoped that you could be a man like me someday, you could chase your dreams and not just the pain of living everyday to day just for a bottle, to cope in some way. I'll bury the hatchet you left in my back. You can have what you stole, it wasn't worth that. But all the lessons I learned and the bridges that burned. I'll never chase a love that I have to earn. I've grown up, now it's your turn. As long as you find your worth, I swear to God it's worth this hurt. I’ve waited far too long for you to write one happy song. And I know just what you meant, when you said you’re not broke just bent. I can see past those bloodshot cloudy eyes that once told our story, before I was replaced with a 40. I swear I’ll see them again. I'll bury the hatchet you left in my back. You can have what you stole, it wasn't worth that. But all the lessons I learned and the bridges that burned. I'll never chase a love that I have to earn. I've grown up, now it's your turn.

A shoulder to cry on became something you relied on. I don't think I'll ever see you stand on your own. New clothes that you try on and new beds you lie on, still shows a girl who’s never found home. I see right through you. I let you see right through me. You question why, I know why I breathe. I see potential, but you're too scared to try. Give up on your own dreams, live another's life. I've gotta be honest now, I never spoke my mind. I swallowed too much of my own pride. As much as I'd like to, to see you hurt. I can't be bitter. I know my worth. Here's to all of the late nights in your car. The nights we spent thinking too much and too far. Don't come near me now. Stay away from my head. The heart on my sleeve has been bled dry. All the memories and losing sleep are keeping me from who I'm supposed to be. Did I make you proud or just prove your doubt? I was at peace with my mind but again it's loud. I promise it wasn't just wasted time. We both learned a few things and came to terms with our lives. I might miss you later on in time, but right now those clock ticks aren't yours, they're mine.

Sound Waves 03:03
Those Carolina eyes kept me up at night because they were always looking in a direction that wasn’t mine. And though I tried just a few thousand times, you could never see past those state lines. Well did you even try? I fell in love with the sound waves of your voice and how I heard it throw all the other noise. If it wasn’t for the miles, would I be your choice? But I lost you and my mind in between our points. Those surface-level late-night conversations only showed me what didn’t need to be my foundation. Two separate screens, a thousand miles between. I can’t count on you so I’ll count sheep. You said that this wasn’t worth the risk to you, but I was to me. I fell in love with the sound waves of your voice and how I heard it throw all the other noise. If it wasn’t for the miles, would I be your choice? But I lost you and my mind in between our points. I fell in love with the sound waves of your voice and every single song that you sang. If it wasn’t for the miles, would I be your choice? You were right, Charlotte is too far away. I always wondered how well you slept at night without me on your mind.

An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. The whole world is blind. They refused to look for truth. Take what you can. It's the American way. Slavery only changed its name. Warmonger. I never knew you. This isn't how it was supposed to be. I’m not saying I’m against our sons. I’m just against the ones behind him pulling the trigger while he holds the gun. I won’t vote, I will choose to love. Because no man deserves power from spilling other’s blood. Warmonger. I never knew you. This isn’t how it’s supposed to be. Prone to wander, but to at least see a clearer picture. This isn’t the cost of being free. You say that war was always in my human blood. This allegiance we swore only separates us from love, and it’s a lie The tables will turn, Rome will burn. Your time has come. If we marched for peace like we march for war, we might find something actually worth fighting for. What are we fighting for?

How can I blame you? Your parents grew you into a man that just can’t water anything down. It doesn’t matter if it’s beyond somebody’s reach. As long as you get to preach your right things to the right ones. I just wish I was good enough to be like you. Because in a small town everybody knows what goes on and who pretends the wrong way. Pray for me today. Because I need your holy hands to wipe away my stains. Play it safe. Because God forbid you even think outside of what you've seen your whole life. Where is the blood you claim? I haven't seen anything besides you never letting it stain your name. Keep the image up. Clean off all the dust. Don’t be seen with the ones who are harder love. An ego trip was the only drive you were willing to make. Even then you wouldn’t pay for gas because your bills were always late. Play it safe. Because God forbid you even think outside of what you've seen your whole life. Where is the blood you claim? I haven't seen anything besides you never letting it stain your name. The ring you bought her is gold, but what you traded us for was silver. We drew lines in the floor. It was that night you trampled love with your high horse.

Here I sit with my last shred of dignity, writing words that I'll sing that I could never speak. The only ones that seem to come out fluently are disappointment and crippling disbelief. I'm sorry. Please give me grace I don't deserve. You only see the process but I'm a work in progress. I finally hate less the beating in my chest. My mind is still a mess but I'm a work in progress. You always said that the truth will set me free and I know I will never be the perfect son but this is the only truth for me. I’m angry and I still feel alone. The house we lived in was never home. But I swear that you’ll finally see the man you prayed for me to be. Please give me grace I don't deserve. You only see the process but I'm a work in progress. I finally hate less the beating in my chest. My mind is still a mess but I'm a work in progress. I'm letting go of the chains of yesterday. I refuse to live and die like a slave. The hardest part is letting go of everything that I have ever know. Kalen & Eric (God I can never do this alone. Make me stand tall. Breathe in my bones. Remind me when I forget who I am now and who I'm not yet.) Please give me grace I don't deserve. You only see the process but I'm a work in progress. I finally hate less the beating in my chest. My mind is still a mess but I'm a work in progress
